Karan is studying in LKG in our school at Kanawani.

This is the first school that he has seen though he is eight years old.

He is a quick learner and has moved from Nursery class to UKG in a few months.

His father, Lallan Paswan, is a rikshaw-puller who starts his day at 7 am and works for 12-13 hours a day.

His mother, Rani Paswan is a domestic servant and works for 7-8 hours a day.

They, family of six, live in a small tenement (kholi of about 3M X 3.5 M size)

 

Karan's parents come from Distric Khagaria in Bihar. They moved to NCR to eke out a better living for themselves and their children. However their does not seem to be hope for a better tomorrow for them. The things can, however, be different for Karan and his brother.

 

Karan has 2 brothers and one sister. The sister, about 13 years old has not been to any school and works as a domestic servant like her mother.

 

One brother is studying in the same school and the third brother looks after the house and does household work.

 

Karan is fond of Chintu Pandey movies.

He likes reciting alphabets and poems.

 

We do hope and wish for a better future for Karan.
